For me, yoga is a canvas.
…but it hasn’t always been. I was 18 years old, a freshman in college, and in and out of a toxic relationship that left me with no sense of identity or direction. I needed something, anything, to lift me out of (or maybe, into) myself and the negative spiral I was in.
This was yoga’s first gift to me—a safe haven from the world, an hour of the day where all I had to think about was my body and breath. I was attending classes religiously, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. I felt a sense of magic from moving at breath pace, like an un-shedding and letting go of everything not in alignment with my path. As Kino says of the yoga practice, it shows you that “freedom is contained within your own skin”.
With time and dedicated commitment, this practice that held me during so many growing pains began to evolve into a canvas of play, self-exploration, curiosity, and expression of my most authentic self. And while I still definitely come to my mat as a refuge from the world, yoga has shown me how to embody lightness and ease, play and presence, as I navigate the peaks and valleys of life.
And from this energy of freedom and expansion, my own unique practice and teaching style began to flourish: a flowing, intuitive, and embodied experience that blends playful expression with deep connection.
I believe each time we step onto our mat is an invitation to step beyond familiar patterns and move in ways that feel fluid, natural, and completely your own. The only teacher you need, is yourself. Your body, breath, and intuition will guide you towards the freedom contained within your own skin.
It is my greatest honor and passion to facilitate this journey into the heart for others. Through my classes, I invite you to show up fully—to feel, to explore, and to flow in ways that feel like you.
